The First In Resilience and Support Team was developed to provide assistance in 3 core areas:
FIRST is about caring for our First Responders FIRST.
The primary goal of FIRST is to build resilience in our First Responders by providing various training classes and resources. F.I.R.S.T. members respond to scenes for traumatic calls and large-scale incidents such as, but not limited to, active shooter, multi-alarm fires and MCI events. We are also available to provide peer to peer support, defusing/debriefings after a Critical Incident and various other support resources. Each time our team is called upon, you can be confident there will be a minimum of 2 qualified team members responding, and more members ready to respond as needed.
A unique quality of our team is the members themselves. Each one of our members is currently working as a First Responder for a local agency. We feel it is important for those we serve to know that our team members can relate to them firsthand because they are in “the trenches” themselves day in and day out. The trainings and assistance we provide are diverse because we recognize what may be helpful for a Firefighter and Medic may not be the same for a 911 Dispatcher or Police Officer. Additionally, all FIRST members have undergone specialized training through the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation in Group Crisis Intervention and Assisting Individuals in Crisis.
We have all seen the effects this job can have on our responders and their families. As we all go through our careers, we are going to experience difficult calls and stressors. Through this team we have an opportunity to come alongside, and support our fellow brothers and sisters in need.
Your contribution provides training and resources for our team and those we serve. We are very grateful for your generosity.
